All but one of the people I know who've tried both reckon the Anchor has the edge very slightly - but also charges correspondingly higher prices. While both British in style, their feel is quite different in ways that are hard to describe. The cuisine at the Anchor is somewhat more elaborate and esoteric than the excellent pub grub at the Red House.
I discovered both these places by looking in The Good Pub Guide, which I unreservedly recommend. (I've now pleaded with them to uprate the Red House from "pot luck" to a full entry; maybe others should follow suit!)

The Anchor has a website, by the way.
