It's obviously an artistic soft focus effect to evoke a sentimental reaction in the viewer, possibly suggesting slightly tear-blurred vision. The diffuse sparkles from the stones are reminiscent of stars against the late evening sky of sapphire.
No, but it does make you more bored with it :) My mother attempted to explain bridge to me numerous times during my childhood, and succeeded only in giving me an allergy to the entire concept of "serious" card games..
Truely, explanations can be inconvenient. You wouldn't believe how opposed some people are to the concept that defining 'love' as part of an answer to a question could be romantic :)
