Ends of eras
Apr. 2nd, 2003 07:09 pmIt seems to be the season for them. First off there was the Last Ever Greenend Party: it was scary to see Greenend so empty. I've had a lot of fun there in the past, and I tend to associate memories very strongly with places, so it'll be sad to see it go. It was good to see someone I hadn't run into for a long time, though (and, ahem, embarrassingly fail to remember who she was for a couple of seconds because it was so unexpected ...). :-)
The other end of an era was my resignation from my current place of work today. It's now public that I've received an offer from nCipher, which I've already accepted informally and will accept formally tomorrow morning. I have very mixed feelings about this, of course, the greatest of which is that I'm leaving the devil I know; that's life, though! The three rounds of layoffs I've been through at my current place were all somewhat inevitable, but I think over time they did manage to take the fun out of the job for me, and now seems like a good time to move on.
So, all change. Let's hope I'm making the right decision.
