My last post seems to have been on 27th March 2004. Oops. Bit slack of me there.

In lieu of catching up, a very quick review of the year:

  • I started a shiny new relationship with my love [livejournal.com profile] ghoti, which is still going strong. Life there is very good indeed.
  • I got offered a job to work full-time from home on what has become Ubuntu, and accepted after a couple of weeks of dilemma over leaving nCipher. On balance it's turned out to be the right decision, although I still have some issues to resolve regarding keeping my working hours sensible and giving myself enough time to relax.
  • Tony moved out and Chris moved in, so I got to know him, and it was also good to get to know [livejournal.com profile] ghoti's housemates better.
  • I went to several fun places for conferences (Spain, twice, and Brazil). Mmm, caipirinhas. I probably spent more time away from home than [livejournal.com profile] ghoti would've liked, though.
  • I took up karate, and I think would have gained the red belt if I hadn't been away at the time. The orange belt grading is in March, and I should be at that. It's been good for my fitness levels.
  • Being very short on reading time in general, I failed in my project to finish reading Dante's "The Divine Comedy", getting to partway through "Paradiso". Still, there's always next year.
  • I should spend more time with my sister's young family.

So ups and downs, but the vast majority ups; 2004 was a wonderful year for me. Not to be a jinx, but the signs are that it will continue. Here's to 2005 being even half as good!

Update

It's been way too long since I did a proper update. Um. Now I've forgotten what happened.

Let's see ... I turned 25, and lots of lovely people turned up to help me do so. Went to London with [livejournal.com profile] pjc50 to meet up with an old friend from university. CTS sketches, which were very very silly and great fun. Debian compromise meant that suddenly I ended up with a lot more spare time for a while, which was useful. Went to [livejournal.com profile] beckyc's party and ate mince pies. Rediscovered that I actually like clubbing, with the aid of one week containing the Calling and [livejournal.com profile] lark_ascending's birthday party that ended up at Octaine (maybe I should get my finger out and go to B-Movie some time). Panicked about failing to do Christmas shopping. Had a lovely evening round at [livejournal.com profile] ghoti's chatting and playing board games. Panicked some more about doomed deadline at work, and then to my own surprise got it done with half an hour to spare. Went to work's Christmas lunch (ate mince pies). Panicked some more about Christmas shopping. Did Christmas shopping. Visited [livejournal.com profile] lark_ascending last night to deliver request from Lush and generally relax after too much stress. Ate ... you guessed it, mince pies.

I'm sure more stuff happened in there, but that's the potted summary. With any luck things will get less hectic from now on. Once I finish wrapping presents I'm off up to visit my parents for a few days; I should be back by the 28th or the 29th or so. Have a good one!
