[livejournal.com profile] beckyc's birthday party was on Saturday. I turned up fairly early on the basis that I'd done everything else I wanted to do that day and felt like socializing, which was a good move. I think I might've been tempted to Go Ape the next time people are doing it, even if they were all going "ow" a lot. Then I had a lovely evening of chatting, eating nice cake, and snuggling, although I did go *zonk* at 12:30 or so.

On Sunday evening Peter persuaded me to cook for him, [livejournal.com profile] sphyg, and myself: pasta bolognaise, but making the bolognaise from ingredients rather than my usual pour-it-out-of-a-jar approach. This went surprisingly well considering my total lack of ability to cook, apart from *ahem* a slight confusion between "clove" and "bulb". There were no vampires in this house that night. Fortunately I hadn't chopped it up very finely so it was still quite pleasantly edible (at least I thought so, and the other two either agreed or were too polite to say otherwise :-)). I'll have to try that again sometime with something a bit closer to the right amounts, and more mushrooms just because more mushrooms are never a bad thing.

Monday at work wasn't very productive, but I got my head working a bit better today and did some useful things, then nipped out earlyish to visit the societies' fair and help out the CUSFS stall a (very) little bit. Somehow I'd managed not to meet the current secretary up until now, who was the only person at the stall when I go there, but she seems quite nice. I need to remind myself to actually go to non-social CUSFS things this year so that I actually meet the people who don't go to socials. After that, [livejournal.com profile] crazyscot, [livejournal.com profile] lark_ascending, [livejournal.com profile] mpinna, and I went for dinner to the Sala Thong Thai restaurant in Newnham. We noticed that they do punt trips where they put a table across the punt and serve you Thai food! Wow, heaven.

So not a bad few days, although I seem to be mood-swinging slightly at work. Let's see how the rest of the week goes ...
