Just before 5:30pm today I realized that I needed to pick up the car from being serviced (over 500 pounds, ouch) before the garage closed at 6. Unfortunately, problem one: I work on one side of town and the garage is on the other. So, I got on the bike and more or less sprinted several miles, doing it in twenty minutes and arriving utterly out of breath and pretty knackered. After I got there and my wallet had finished aching I tried to fit the bike into the back seat of the car, so I could bring them both home at once. Problem two: bike doesn't fit in back seat. Arse. The only thing I could do was to lock the bike outside the garage, drive home, walk back out (another mile or two), and ride back, the last two of which and the aforementioned sprint were in the rain.
The upshot of all this is that I'm utterly exhausted and badly in need of a shower, so I think I'll regretfully acknowledge that I'm not going to be at the beer festival quite every evening this week. I'll try to catch up tomorrow. :-)
