My laptop's keyboard is showing signs of giving up the ghost, and while looking round for a replacement I think I've accidentally managed to convince myself that a PowerBook is just far too shiny to resist. Oops. They're slightly cheaper than I thought they were, though.

Mmm, shiny Apple goodness.

And they run Debian far better than the average x86 laptop does; just don't allow yourself to be seduced by the dark side^W^W OS X ;-)

Get a student to buy it for you. They're substantially (~£100) cheaper on the HE national contract - the bottom-end PB is £1117.

No, of course I'm not thinking of buying one.

I.
Will.
Resist.

You do know there's something like £120 quid off all of the iPods when you buy an education PowerBook at the moment, don't you..?

I'll just sit on your shoulder and wave this trident around vaguely, shall I?

BAD antinomy. No cookie.

(Actually, being billed 100 quid cause someone nicked a library book from your desk has this way of not making you want to spend money much...)

I wonder about value for money with them, but I do agree that they are nice and shiny. (-: Much shinier than my ThinkPad, I'll grant you!

The dark side

Jesus wept. I've just spent two days at the Linux Expo trying to convince a guy to not be totally seduced by OS X on his new Powerbook, and I cited you as an example of all that is good and right about Debian people. And now you're a bleedin' Mac boy. Honestly. I never win. :-)
